I found the last year of university the most challenging as there was so much work to do and I didn’t enjoy every single subject. A lot of willpower was needed to stay in and study rather than go out and have fun with friends.

Persevering when things are not working. While doing my PhD I spent about 6-9 months where none of my experiments were working. It was a tough time but I learnt a lot about trouble shooting and trying to come up with alternative experiments /ideas to answer my questions.
