probably yes…. This might be an effect of things called endocrine disruptors which can be found in things that we use such as plastics, make up and medicines that can also end up in the water supply..
The example I can think of is that the age of puberty is lower than it used to be. I don’t think scientists have discovered the definite answer to this yet. Some scientists think it’s related to genetic and environmental factors. It could also be linked to diet and lifestyle – for example, girls who are overweight tend to start puberty earlier.
There is probably more chemicals (eg. pesticides) being manufacture and that can have an effect on the endocrine system.
The number of people living with type 2 diabetes has grown significantly over the last generation. This means there are changes in insulin. A lot of this is down to changes in lifestyle – more energy dense foods, less activity (more people do less physical jobs today).
