      There are a few theories and this is one of them and it seems the best one at the moment. Probably yes !

      It’s believed that testosterone is involved with baldness. Cells in the skin of the scalp convert testosterone into another hormone called dihydrotestosterone. Hair follicles become more sensitive to dihydrotestosterone, which causes the hair follicles to shrink.

      Not sure why only scalp hairs are affected and not other areas such as the beard or armpits.
